Coronavirus information
Although the current risk from this virus in the UK is low and it’s very much business as usual at the moment, we would like to provide you with some information about:
- The symptoms of Coronavirus
- Basic hygiene to help protect yourself and others
- Where you can get more information
- When you should seek medical guidance if you have, or think you may have been exposed to the virus:
Symptoms
The common symptoms are:
- Fever
- Dry cough
- Shortness of breath
Hygiene
The current guidance is to:
- Cover your nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
- Put used tissues in the bin immediately
- Wash your hands with soap and water often - do this for at least 20 seconds
- Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
- Don't touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
When to seek medical assistance
Contact NHS 111 if you feel unwell or if you may have been exposed to the Coronavirus. You should not go to the GP, as you could spread the virus if you have it.
Please let your consultant know if you are being tested.
Government guidance
We advise you to stay up to date with government guidance - this is a fast-moving situation and updates are being released daily at 2PM.

The information on the link above includes:
- Advice from the FCO (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) which is particularly important to anyone traveling to or back from countries and areas affected by the virus.
- An updated list of countries/areas that are affected and advice about actions to be taken when returning to the UK from those regions.
- Guidance issued by Public Health England and the Department for Health
If you have returned from any of the countries listed on the gov.co.uk website, please let your consultant know.
Your place of work
You should ask your manager in each assignment if they have put any specific policies in place to manage Coronavirus risk. If so, you must follow the guidance they provide.
